Getting into Super Turbo in 2026: three characters, four players and no tutorial
Super Turbo looks frightening from the outside: no tutorial, no decent training mode, nobody to explain why you just lost. The good news is that the game is small and transparent. The hard part isn't learning it — it's finding the way in.
Start with three characters
Don't pick yet: watch. Ryu is the most-seen character in the ST archive (15 matches), and for good reason: he teaches the fireball-and-jump game everything else rests on. Ken (12) is the same skeleton with more risk and more reward. Sagat (9) teaches you what controlling space really means, and why sometimes the correct answer is to do nothing.
And four players
Damdai and John Choi are the two American schools: extreme patience and surgical punishment. AFRO LEGENDS shows you that a charge character can be aggressive. And Super Turbo Daigo is not the Daigo of the timeline: he's a fundamentals player, no tricks.
The order matters
First watch whole sets, not clips. Then play 200 matches badly. Then go back to the same sets: you'll see new things, and that's the entire curve. There are 50 ST matches in the finder, filtered by game.
