The Ryu the whole genre was built on. In Super Turbo he's the balanced shoto, full stop: Hadoken, Shoryuken, Tatsumaki and a Super if you want it. There's no better starting point for learning the fundamentals of the most-studied matchup ever played.

Classic (O.Ryu)

O.Ryu (classic): no red Hadoken, no air tatsu, with normals and properties carried over from the earlier versions. Purer and more honest, the pick zoning diehards swear by.

Normal (ST)

ST Ryu (normal): brings in the red Hadoken (it stuns) and the air Tatsumaki, trading some of the classic's restraint for extra pressure and mobility.
