Nobody had Ingrid on their bingo card, and that's the point

Almost nobody saw her name coming, which is exactly why it lands. Ingrid dropped into Street Fighter 6 on May 28, 2026 as the fourth and final character of Year 3, closing a pass that started with Alex, ran through C. Viper and Sagat.

A catalog pull, not a canon one

Ingrid has always been an oddity. She debuted in Capcom Fighting Evolution back in 2004, popped up again in Street Fighter Alpha 3 MAX, and never really found a spot in the series' actual timeline. Putting her in SF6 reads almost like Capcom finally making her official. This is the kind of fan service a company only allows itself once the obvious requests are already in the bag.

What the Sun Crests do

Mechanically she's built around projectiles and movement to control the screen while she banks Sun Crests. Spend the charges to power up her attacks — more crests, bigger payoff. On paper she's a resource-management character that rewards thinking a couple of steps ahead.

Which raises the obvious problem. In a patch that's actively punishing passive play, does Ingrid even get the time to charge her sun? Year 3 closes on a genuinely interesting question mark.
