Ingrid closes out SF6's Year 3: Capcom's riskiest bet
Few expected her name, and that's exactly why it's interesting. Ingrid landed in Street Fighter 6 on May 28, 2026 as the fourth and final character of Year 3, closing out a pass opened by Alex, C. Viper and Sagat.
A catalog pick, not a canon one
Ingrid is an oddity: she debuted in Capcom Fighting Evolution (2004) and reappeared in Street Fighter Alpha 3 MAX, but she had never had a clear place in the series' timeline. Her arrival in SF6 works almost like an official canonization. It's the kind of deep fan service Capcom allows itself once it has already covered the bulk of the popular requests.
The Sun Crests system
On the gameplay side, Ingrid arrives with a kit of varied projectiles and mobility designed to control space while she stockpiles Sun Crests. Those charges are spent to power up her attacks: the more you use, the bigger the effect. On paper, she's a resource-management character that rewards planning.
The doubt is a meta one: in a patch that punishes passivity, will Ingrid have time to charge her sun? Year 3 bows out with a stimulating question mark.
