Battle Arena Melbourne 16: the CPT lands in Australia with a Japanese accent

Australia has been the circuit's acid test for years: if a Capcom Pro Tour Premier can sit twelve time zones from Tokyo and still fill up with Japanese players flying out to Melbourne, the points clearly matter. BAM 16 proved it once more.

The grand final was contested by Hinao (REJECT) and Cosa (SS Kumamoto), with names like Tokido, Micky, Booce and Taizen stacking the top of the bracket. It's no accident: the sheer depth of the Japanese bench turns every international event into a covert exhibition tour, and the locals use it to measure themselves against the toughest yardstick there is.

What BAM leaves behind

Beyond the result, the value of these far-flung Premiers is spreading the race toward Capcom Cup across regions that would otherwise stay out of the spotlight. Cosa and the SS Kumamoto crew fighting for an international final is exactly the kind of story the CPT needs so it doesn't become the same closed club. Melbourne delivered: a big stage, a serious bracket, and a final worth watching twice.
