The Street Fighter League 2026 kicks off in Japan, EMEAA and the Americas at once
While the CPT hands out points tournament by tournament, the Street Fighter League does the opposite: it spreads the year across match weeks. The 2026 season is already under way in Japan — Division S with two episodes aired and Division F just starting — and EMEAA has locked in dates from September 2nd to 6th. The Americas have released a regular season trailer.
Three calendars, one same question
The appeal of the SFL has never been crowning the best player in the world; Capcom Cup is there for that. It is a team format, with match order, substitutions and a tactical layer that does not exist in a double elimination bracket. Watching Tokido or Kazunoko play so their team scores, rather than to survive losers, changes the decisions made inside a round.
What we are watching
Two things. One: whether the Year 4 characters — Yasmine first among them — hold up in a format where your opponent gets a week to prepare for you. And two: whether the Japanese divisions remain the toughest filter on the circuit, as they have been since 2023.
The archive will fill up with sets as the match weeks go on. Leagues produce few headlines per week, but they leave behind the best sample of the year for studying a matchup properly.
